Doug Thorsteinson

Married my high school sweethweart, I have two step children and one child of my own. Since graduating from Pen Hi, I have been a firefighter, an ambulance driver, an industrial supply salesman, a professional musician and a business owner. I have had the good fortune to coach all of my kids in their chosen sports. I run marathons, compete in triathlons, coach marathon clinics, travel and still remain healthy and active. We also became grandparents for the first time on September 10th, 2015. A baby boy named Weston. he is the joy of our lives. My wife and I both completed Ironman Canada in Penticton in 2008, 2010 and in Whistler in 2013. Our oldest child Chelsea was at the starting line in 2012. It was her first Ironman and we were so excited for her. She rocked it!!! My wife and I are very active in the Bagpipe world here in Victoria. Shelley is a piper and I am the bass drummer for the Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band. Through the band we have had the good fortune to travel to China and Scotland with many more international trips pending. We also went out of our comfort zone in September of 2015 and hiked the beautiful but daunting West Coast Trail. A journey of 75 km that took us 7 days to complete.... Life is great and I am grateful everyday!
